Cornelius "Neil" "Bubsy" Devaney

Cornelius “Neil” “Bubsy” Devaney, 78, passed away peacefully on May 1, 2017, at his Barnegat residence.  Born in Jersey City, he was a resident of Bayonne for nearly 50 years, prior to moving to the shore.

Neil worked for Baker Castor Oil, Bayonne Hospital and the United States Postal Service Distribution Center in Kearny.  He was also the owner of Joette’s Confectionary on 25th Street and Kennedy Boulevard in Bayonne. 

Neil proudly served the nation as a paratrooper for the United States Army.

Neil loved spending time with his family and vacationing. He was an animal lover, and especially loved his dog Marchello.  He was a caring and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and had a great sense of humor.

Neil is survived by his beloved wife, Joette Devaney (nee: Doria); his loving sons, Patrick Devaney (Carol), Daniel Devaney (Laurie) and John Devaney; his cherished grandchildren, Patrick Devaney (Kelly), Michael Devaney (Erica Fischer), Sean Devaney, Ashley Devaney, Alexis Devaney, Danielle Hulsey (Stephen) and Jessica Devaney; his adoring great grandchildren, Anthony Devaney, Tyler Halsey and the soon to be Lianna Rose Devaney; his dear siblings, Debra Jensen and Joyce Caswell (Tommy); and many loving nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be conducted by Bayonne Memorial Home, Inc. on Friday, May 5, 2017.  A funeral Mass will be held at St. Vincent de Paul Church at 11:00 a.m.  A private cremation will follow.  Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
