Katherine Yates (Masella) Gordon-Clark

Katherine Yates Masella Gordon-Clark died on October 25, 2015, from complications of multiple myeloma. She was 80 years old.
She worked as a specialist in learning disabilities, developing an interest in the subject from her time as an English teacher in her twenties. She received a B.A. in English, and both a Masters and a Ph.D. in psychology, all from Bryn Mawr College. She worked for the Child Study Institute in Bryn Mawr, PA, a clinic run by Bryn Mawr College. At the clinic, she advanced from an intern to the post of Assistant Director. She was a founding board member of the Delaware Valley Friends School and a past president of the International Dyslexia Association.
Mrs Gordon-Clark was born in Buffalo, NY, but moved to Philadelphia as a child and grew up in the Mount Airy section of city, attending Green Street Friends School and Germantown Friends School. In 1962 she was married to Matthew Richard Gordon-Clark of Cirencester, England. Except for a short time in Cambridge, MA, she lived most of her adult life in Swarthmore, PA and always thought of herself as a Philadelphian. She was predeceased by her husband, and her brother, Charles Masella. She is survived by her son, Nathaniel Gordon-Clark of Baltimore, MD, and her brother, James Masella, Jr. of Hingham, MA.
Her service will be held at the Bayonne Memorial Home, on Saturday, November 7, 2015, with visitation at 10:00 a.m. and the service at 11:00 a.m. She will then be buried at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington, New Jersey.
