Mary R. (McElwee) Fitzpatrick

Mary R. Fitzpatrick, 91, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2015 in her home, with her loving family by her side.  Born in Bayonne, she was a lifelong resident.

Mrs. Fitzpatrick was a Holy Family graduate.  She was employed by National Grocery, Western Electric, Geigy Chemical, ShopRite and was a legal secretary with the Hudson County Law Department from which she retired after 20 years of service.

She was a parishioner of St. Andrew the Apostle Church of Bayonne for 62 years.  She is an honorary member of the St. Andrew’s Rosary Society, The Andrean Club and was an active participant in the Hudson County Senior Citizen’s Art Program.  Mary earned numerous awards for her entries in the Hudson County Senior Citizen Art Shows.

Mrs. Fitzpatrick is survived by her children; Brian Fitzpatrick (Barbara), MaryEllen Spinosa (Steven), her cherished Grandchildren; Brianne Fitzpatrick-Smith (Paul), Bradley Fitzpatrick (Kaila), Katelyn and Kevin Spinosa and her adoring Great Grandchild, Samantha Smith.

She was predeceased by her loving husband George, her dear brothers; Paul McElwee (Mary), Thomas McElwee (Betty), Joseph McElwee and surviving Sister-in-Law, Ann McElwee, as well as many nieces and nephews who loved their Aunt Mary.

The funeral will be conducted by Bayonne Memorial Home, Inc. on Monday, March 23, 2015. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Andrew the Apostle Church at 11:00 a.m. followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.  Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 22, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Visiting Angels of Hoboken, 50 Harrison Street, Suite #218, Hoboken, NJ 07030 or the Bayonne Visiting Nurses Association, 325 Broadway, Bayonne, NJ 07002.
