Thomas Cuseglio, a Bayonne resident, died in his home on Wednesday, October 29, surrounded by family at the age of 90.
Thomas was a World War II Veteran. He enlisted in the Navy and was later recruited into Seabees upon its creation. He was honorably discharged after fighting in the Pacific Theatre after reassignment to the Marines.
For more than 30 years, Cuseglio shared ownership in Nora Construction Company. He also supervised and inspected three subcontractors.
From 1979-1983, Thomas worked as a Building Inspector, Sub Code Official, and Construction Official. He also was responsible for the Building Department and Zoning Enforcement for the City of Bayonne and was employed as an inspector for the Bayonne Housing Authority, until the age of 80.
Thomas was a member of the VFW, Catholic War Vets and honored by the BEOF for his services.
Thomas was loved and respected by his family and friends as a caring person and man of integrity.
Thomas was the son of Gennaro and Angelina Cuseglio (Coseglia).
Thomas is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Natalie (nee: Lawry); his two loving daughters, Linda Gala and Nancy Fitzpatrick; his dear sons-in-law, John Gala and John Fitzpatrick; his four cherished grandchildren, David and Natalie Gala and Shana and Justin Fitzpatrick; and his adoring great grandson, Ethan. He was predeceased by his dear siblings, Dominick and Ralph Cuseglio, Angelina Iannacone, Josephine Valiante, Margaret Pondillo, Florence Murtha, Gloria DeRos and Beatrice Kettyle.
The funeral will be conducted by Bayonne Memorial Home, Inc. on Monday, November 3, 2014. A funeral Mass will be held at Saint Andrew the Apostle Church at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org/Donate).
