David Markowski

David “Boo” Markowski, 62, a loving father, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 4, 2019, at home with his family by his side.

David was born in Bayonne to the late Henry and Irene Markowski and was an honored Navy Veteran before he retired as a Bayonne Police Officer with 30 years of service to the city he cherished. He was also employed as a commercial truck driver, and his persistent, hardworking spirit was an inspiration to all who knew him.

Along the way, he gained the respect and love of countless friends and neighbors, and he will always be remembered for his generosity and good humor. After a courageous fight against cancer, David was able to retire “down the shore” with a tranquil view of the water as he always wished.

          David is survived by his wife, Joan Markowski; his daughter, Madison Neal Markowski; his sisters, Judy (Jack) Russo and Susan Clement; his nephews, Christopher Carle and Matthew (Amanda) Russo; his nieces, Devon Clement and Kim Clement; and many dedicated loved ones that he called family. “To know him is to love him” was the best way to describe David, and so many did.

          The funeral will be conducted by Bayonne Memorial Home, Inc. on Monday, November 11, 2019.  A funeral Mass will be held at Blessed Miriam Teresa Parish at St. Andrew the Apostle Church at 11:00am. Private Cremation will follow.  Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
