Catherine Ziegler

Catherine Ziegler (nee: Barraga) passed away peacefully at her Bayonne residence surrounded by loved ones on Saturday, August 20, 2022.  She was born in Jersey City to the late Catherine (nee: Elliott) and James Barraga and was a long-time Bayonne resident. Mrs. Ziegler was a clerk in the checking department at First Savings and Loan prior to retirement. She volunteered her time for many years at H.I.G.H.W.A.Y.S. Thrift store and was a member of Young at Heart.
Mrs. Ziegler was predeceased by her beloved husband, James, her cherished granddaughter, Melissa Renahan, and her dear sister, Joan Gallagher. She is survived by her loving children, Carole Poremba and her husband, Michael and Kathy Murphy and her husband, Michael. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Brianne, Holly, and Matthew Murphy; and her caregivers, Maya & Gina.
The funeral will be conducted by Bayonne Memorial Home, Inc. on Thursday, August 25, 2022.  A funeral Mass will be held at the Church of St. Henry at 10:45am followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Wednesday, August 24 from 4:00pm-7:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
