Jerry Barba, 86, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 2, 2020. Born in Jersey City, he was a resident of Bayonne since 1957.
Jerry was self-employed as he worked for his family business, Hi-Lite Auto Body Shop. He also owned and operated Hi-Lite Tavern. When he wasn’t working, Jerry would spend his time coaching girls’ softball, planting flowers in his garden, racing pigeons and playing the lottery.
Jerry is the last of 11 children of Elizabeth (nee: Mauro) and Salvatore Barba. He is survived by his brother-in-law, Edward P. Magotch; his nephew, Edward S. Magotch, who he lived with; his Goddaughter, Maria Reynolds, her husband Neil, and their children, Brooke and Alyssa; as well as many other cherished nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved siblings, Salvatore, Jack, Gus, Anthony, Marie, Josephine, and Helen Barba, Anna Keldonawicz, Elizabeth Magotch, and Florence Bottge.
Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, private funeral services will be conducted by Bayonne Memorial Home, Inc.
