Michael Louis Contaldi passed away on Friday, February 12, 2021. He was born in Bayonne to the late Rose (nee: Visciano) and Peter Contaldi and was a lifelong resident. He was a Union painter, District Council 711, for over 40 years.
Mr. Contaldi proudly served the nation as a member of the United States Army during the Korean War and was a decorated war hero, receiving a Purple Heart, two Bronze Stars and the Distinguished Service Medal.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Mr. Contaldi was predeceased by his beloved wife, Helen (nee: Breheney) Contaldi, and his loving sons, Michael and Thomas Contaldi. He is survived by his loving children, Francis Contaldi, John Contaldi, and his fiancé, Dina Mills, and Marie Ruane, and her husband, Terrence; his cherished grandchildren, Michael Patrick, Thomas and Melissa Contaldi, Terence and Nora Ruane, and Nick Flores; eight adoring great grandchildren; and his dear sibling, Ann Gladhill. He was also predeceased by his dear siblings, Angelo Contaldi, Joseph Contaldi, Marie Santangelo and Mildred Castagna.
The funeral will be conducted by Bayonne Memorial Home, Inc. on Saturday, February 20, 2021. A walk through visitation will take place at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and will be followed by a graveside service with Military Honors at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, at 10:30 a.m.
