Richard “Richie” T. Antczak passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at Ocean University Medical Center, Brick. He was born in Bayonne to the late Helen (nee: Osinski) and Casimir Antczak and was a long-time resident prior to relocating to Point Pleasant in 2015.
A 1977 graduate of St. Peter’s University, Richie had a 45-year career in port management at Port Newark, working for Sealand, Navieras/NPR, Inc., Trailer Bridge, Inc., P.O. Ports, N.A. and later in Bayonne at Ceres Atlantic Terminal, Inc.
Richie was an avid New York Jets fan and long-time season ticket holder as well as an enthusiastic follower of the New York Yankees. He was a dedicated volunteer at Holy Family Academy and a hard-working member of the St. Joseph’s Guild where the principal bestowed upon him the honorary title of “St. Richard.” He enjoyed spending time in his bountiful vegetable garden and was a loving pet owner, rescuing several greyhounds as well as his most recent shelter addition, Wendy.
Richie is survived by his loving wife, Shelia (nee: O’Connell) Antczak; his loving children, Bridget Antczak, Amanda Centi, and her husband, Justin, and Casey Antczak; his cherished grandchildren, Harrison, Rowan and Brandon Centi; his dear siblings, JoAnne Antczak, and Matthew Antczak, and his wife, Debra; and many loving members of his extended family and supportive lifelong friends. He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Donald McInenly and his sister-in-law, Denise O’Connell.
The funeral will be conducted by the staff of Bayonne Memorial Home, Inc. from O’Brien Funeral Home, Brick on Saturday, February 28, 2026. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Peter Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Private cremation will follow. Visitation will take place at O’Brien Funeral Home on Friday, February 27, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
