To Maryann, Phil and Kevin,
We wish you peace and comfort and extend our most heartfelt condolences to you.
Kathy, was like another grandmother to me and while I knew this day would come, I never imagined it would sting as much as does. Kathy -and John too - were extraordinary people and I really feel privileged to have spent the time that I did with them. My parents always said they were not just tenants or even just friends, they are adopted family to us.
Your mom gave me such great ancedotes of wisdom and I loved hearing her stories. One of the highlights for me was being able to interview her in college and learn more in depth about her life experiences and perspective on history. She was one of the most fascinating people I ever knew.
When I was little, she would tell me stories about the magic of rainbows and leprechauns. I had started telling Betsy some of the stories your mom told me. I had wanted to tell Kathy we live in the land of the rainbows now, sometimes we see three per day with all the rain and spritzes of sunshine, but I never got a chance. But, whenever I see one, I'll always think of her.
There was so much to Kathy. Compassionate, kind, loving, unflinchingly honest and devoted to all the people she loved. I can't think of a better description of a remarkable human being than your mother and grandmother. I so loved Kathy and John too. They will be missed and never forgotten by us.
Love, Mandy, John & Betsy
