Stanley “the Cat” Salamon passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at his residence with his loving family at his bedside. He was born in Bayonne and was a lifelong resident.
Mr. Salamon was retired elevator maintenance operator for Westinghouse prior to his retirement.
Mr. Salamon proudly served the nation as a member of the United States Navy during World War II. During the invasion of Normandy, he was a crew member on the U.S.S. Achernar that was attacked three times.
Mr. Salamon had a great love of Atlantic City, especially the Sands Casino. He also loved the shore and crabbing.
Mr. Salamon was predeceased by his beloved wife, Mary (nee: Guzzi) Salamon. He is survived by his loving daughters, Ronnie Salamon and Jane Murphy (Bill); his cherished grandchildren, James (Sara) and Dennis Driscoll; and his adoring great grandchildren, Lailah and Tyson Driscoll. He was also predeceased by his dear brothers, Michael and Joseph.
The funeral will be conducted by Bayonne Memorial Home, Inc. on Saturday, March 24, 2018. A funeral Mass will be held at Pope John Paul II Parish at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, March 23, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
