Ulyess Ron Mason

Ulyess “Ron” Bobby Mason passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 9, 2017.

Ron was born on June 26, 1937, in Laurinburg, North Carolina to the late Sallie Mae Wright and Cle Mason. He grew up and attended schools in the North Carolina school system.  He received his high school diploma and entered the United States Army, making a career serving the nation.

After leaving the service, Ron resided in New York, and worked as a caterer.  He then relocated to Bayonne, where he became a landlord and entrepreneur, which allowed him to continue his comfortable living style. 

He was a dedicated father, enjoyed helping others and giving good advice.  He lived a wonderful life and was nice to everyone he met. 

Ron was always a sharp dresser and a jokester, who kept people laughing.  He was a smooth and quiet person when he was not telling jokes.

Ron loved singing and was a singer for Preacher Prep.

Ron leaves to cherish his memory, his fiancée, Theresa Smallwood; his two sons, Ronald and William Wallace; his daughter, Serena, three grandchildren, Rhonda Simpson, Selena Wallace and Shaniqua Brown; three great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

The funeral will be conducted on Tuesday, May 23, 2017, with interment at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans’ Cemetery at 11:30 a.m.  The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Monday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. with a service being held at 8:00 p.m.
