Ann Marie and Don Haiber Obituary

AnnMarie passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 17, 2025. Don passed away after a courageous battle with Covid on March 30, 2020. No service was held for Don due to the lockdowns at the time. Both Don and AnnMarie will be honored together. It is a fitting Tribute for a couple who enjoyed a beautiful life together for nearly 60 years.

Don was the son of Raymond and Ann Haiber. AnnMarie was the daughter of John and Marie Massarelli. They were both born in Bayonne NJ and met after Don’s four years of service in the United States Marine Corps. They were married on August 17, 1963.

Don and AnnMarie dedicated their lives to their faith and family, especially their children and grandchildren. Inspired by their daughter Julie, they worked tirelessly to advance the opportunities and services for the special needs community. In addition to their lifelong care of Julie, and decades of volunteer work, Don and AnnMarie forged new paths for children with disabilities and their families. Don was the founder and first chairman of SEPTA (Special Education Parents & Teachers Association). AnnMarie started a CCD catholic education program for special needs children. Her faith and dedication gave many handicapped children the opportunity to make their First Holy Communion.

Their kindness, generosity and passion for life were a blessing to everyone who knew them.

Don and AnnMarie are survived by their three children: Donald Haiber, Julie Haiber, Jacqueline Puccinelli and her husband Mark. Four grandchildren and three great grandchildren: Mark Puccinelli, his wife Katie and their children, Leo and Parker. Melissa Mullin, her husband Tommy and their son Thomas. Elizabeth Pecora and her husband William. Vincent Puccinelli. Four siblings: Ray Massarelli, Francine Carrol, Delores McCusker, Carol Sivilli. Many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Vincent de Paul Church on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at 11:00 a.m.
