Anthony “Tony” Lawrence Pucciarelli passed away peacefully on Monday, September 11, 2023. Born on June 10, 1923, in Staten Island to the late Mary and James Pucciarelli, he was a longtime Bayonne resident.
Tony proudly served the nation as a member of the United States Army Corps of Engineers in France during World War II. He was employed at the Bayonne Military Ocean Terminal prior to retirement. He was a member of the Garbarina Skyliners, where he played the soprano bugle, and joined the Skyliners Alumni Chorus during his later years. He was the recipient of the New Your Skyliners Certificate of Dedication and Contribution Award earlier this year.
Tony was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and Uncle Tony to many nieces and nephews. His family was his pride and joy and he shared his strength and support with them throughout his life. His kindness, wisdom, humor and love have left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. Let us celebrate his long life which he lived to the fullest. May he rest in peace knowing that his love and spirit live on in the hearts of those he touched.
Tony is survived by his devoted wife who stood by his side through the joys and challenges of life, Clara Pucciarelli; his loving children, Kathy Kopf, and her husband, John, Maureen Smith, and her husband, Larry, and Jack McGlone; his cherished grandchildren, Joshua Kopf, and his wife, Kathleen, Devin Rodriguez, and her husband, Anthony, Courtney Kopf, and her husband, Jason, and Jessie and Madison McGlone; his adoring great grandchildren, Gabriel, Quinn, Nadia and Mia; and his dear siblings, Kathryn Arcolio, and her husband, John, and Mary DeRosa.
Tony was predeceased by his beloved son, Joseph Pucciarelli; his cherished grandson, Justin Bellini; his loving stepfather, Vincent DeRosa; and his dear siblings and in-laws, Frances Reilly, and her husband, Bernard, Teresa Smonig, and her husband, John, Rosemary Earley, and her husband, Paul, Joseph Pucciarelli, and his wife, Lucienne, and James Pucciarelli, Jr., and his wife, Elizabeth.
The funeral will be conducted by Bayonne Memorial Home, Inc. on Saturday, September 16, 2023. A funeral Mass will be held at Blessed Miriam Teresa Parish at St. Mary, Star of the Sea Church at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
