On 27 October 2022 Archimede F. Schifano of Bayonne was at last called home.
Born to first-generation Americans Giuseppe (Joe) Schifano and Rose Spinelli-Schifano on 23 February 1932, Archimede would see the depths of America’s Great Depression and its noble efforts in the second World War before serving honorably in Korea.
A proud graduate of both Snyder High School (‘50) and Seton Hall (associates ‘56), Mr. Schifano would return home to Jersey City and build several successful small businesses, including a real-estate company and a warehousing firm.
He was an articulate and persuasive businessman, but also a debonair stage magician with an innate sense of music and showmanship and the know-how to treat people with class.
Having known both poverty and relative wealth, Mr. Schifano was a quiet and dependable patron to veteran’s and children’s charities. He served as primary caretaker for several of those that would go to their reward before him, including his beloved mother Rose; his aunt Josephine; and his loyal friend Catherine Spinelli.
Mr. Schifano goes now to join his three siblings; Salvatore Schifano of Matawan, NJ; Josephine “Sandy” Schifano of Deerfield Beach, Florida; and Christina Flatley-Schifano of Belford, NJ; as well as his loving former wife Carol McDonough. He leaves behind beloved nieces and nephews; an appreciative and proud son, Frank Schifano; and a devoted confidant and companion, Susan Festino.
