Brian Law

April 6, 1960 ~ April 30, 2021 (age 61)

There are few people in this world who pass through like a comet: a celestial anomaly that yields the world to stop in its tracks, illuminate the eyes of those lucky enough to catch a glimpse, and disappear into the cosmos. Brian Law was such a person; a bright, shining star whose presence lingered; a massive presence, evoking a sublime sense of comradery. Everyone he met was his new best friend. And like staring at a comet and basking in the luminescence of its passing, Brian’s life will light up the memories of those he touched.

Brian Law passed away peacefully on Friday, April 30, 2021, at Jersey City Medical Center.  He was born in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania to the late Margaret and William Law and was a long-time Bayonne resident. He was a salesperson for Sun Belt Rentals.

Up until his final days, Brian had a true passion and unadulterated joy for music. He shared this passion as a drill writer and instructor for numerous high schools such as Hammonton High School and was a member and instructor for drum and bugle corps including the Bridgemen, Crossmen, Bushwackers, and countless others. He was also a founding member of The Gutless Worms, and helped write music for the Jersey City band, Supermutt.

Brian is survived by his beloved and relentlessly dedicated wife, Lori Ann Law (nee: Skibbie); his loving sons, Nicholas Law, and his wife, Tina, and Tyler Law; Wonderful cats, Chloe and Jaxon; His dear siblings, Terry Ruhkne and her husband Jay, Tim Law and his wife Peggy, Shawn Law and his wife Amanda; siblings-in-law Lynn Keating and her husband Tom, and Jack Skibbie and his wife Camille; and mother-in-law Marilyn Skibbie (nee: Dundas). He was also predeceased by many close family members, including in-laws, nieces and nephews, as well as his many musical family members.

Visitation will take place at the Bayonne Memorial Home, Inc. on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held at Blessed Miriam Teresa Parish at St. Andrew the Apostle Church on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. A private cremation will follow. In the following days, weeks, months, and years, make sure to look to the stars and see them “sparkling” just a little brighter, as the brightest among them just joined the sky.
