Daniel “Yubby” Harrington, a lifelong Bayonne resident, passed away peacefully on Sunday September 3, 2023. He was surrounded by his family and is in a better place.
Born on March 6, 1930, he was 93.
Yubby and his brother, Tom, operated Harrington’s Service Center on Kennedy Blvd since 1960. Yubby’s children, Daniel and Chuck, and Tom’s son, the late Mark, carried on the tradition of great service to the Bayonne community.
Yubby was an active parishioner of Blessed Miriam Theresa Demjanovich Parish where he was married and baptized all his children. Yubby’s wife, Dorothy, was the first woman elected to the Bayonne City Council and was also a former President of the Bayonne Board of Education.
Yubby was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy (nee: McInenly) and his brother John, and his wife Ruth, his sister, Catherine Raslowsky and her husband, Alfie, his sister Dot, and his brother Thomas, and his wife Cathy.
He is survived by his children, Gregory Harrington and his wife, Jenny, Diane Percella, and her husband, Daniel, Daniel Harrington, and his wife, Jill, and Charles Harrington, and his partner Laura- Leigh Lane. Yubby had five grandchildren, Daniel and Christopher Percella, RyanLee Harrington Loveland, Daniel Jesse Harrington and Brendan Harrington, along with twelve great grandchildren. He is also survived by his dear friend, Jo-Anne Pappalardo, and his sister-in-law, Lynne Pappaccio and her husband, Blaine.
The funeral will be conducted by Bayonne Memorial Home, Inc. on Thursday, September 7, 2023. A funeral Mass will be held at Blessed Miriam Theresa Parish at St. Andrew the Apostle Church at 10:00 a.m. A private cremation will follow. Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. . Entombment of Yubby’s ashes will take place at St. Catharine’s Cemetery, Sea Girt, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bayonne P.A.L., 550 Avenue A, Bayonne, NJ 07002.
