Edward P. Magotch, 87, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2020, at Holy Name Medical Center. He was born in Mahanoy City, Pennsylvania on August 1, 1932, to the late Andrew and Susan (nee: Jenchik) Magotch, and was a long-time Bayonne resident.
Edward proudly served the nation as a member of the Air Force in which he was a recipient of the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Upon being discharged from the Air Force, Edward moved to Jersey City, New Jersey where he met and married the love of his life, Elizabeth “Betty” (nee: Barba) Magotch on May 31, 1959.
Edward was a Key Shop worker for Western Electric where he retired from after 40 years. Edward also worked at Two Guys, Steve’s 4th Street Shop-Rite, and Hanley’s Tavern/Ray Lynns.
Edward was an avid sports fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Penguins, and Pirates in addition to his granddaughters’ teams where he would always be found on the sidelines cheering them on. Edward was a true character that always knew how to bring a smile to someone’s face.
Edward was predeceased by his beloved wife, Elizabeth “Betty” (nee: Barba) Magotch. He is survived by his loving children, Edward S. Magotch, and Maria Reynolds, and her husband, Neil; his cherished grandchildren, Brooke and Alyssa Reynolds; his brother Joseph Magotch; and many loving nieces and nephews. Edward is predeceased by his beloved siblings, Robert and Josephine Magotch, Mary Kmec, Helen Debusky, Theresa Holdsworth; and his beloved niece Bernadette Kmec.
