Isabelle (Plachta) Harris

Isabelle Plachta Harris of Bayonne entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, December 23, 2025.  Born in Bayonne, the youngest daughter of Mary and John Plachta, she lived in Bayonne her entire life. 

She was a secretary for the Radio Corporation of America (RCA) in Harrison, New Jersey; she later worked for many years at the local Bayonne, NJ state unemployment office. 

Isabelle was a member of the Sons of Poland Group #140, the Frederick A. MacKenzie Post #165 Auxiliary, the Mount Carmel Seniors and the Bayonne Bocce League. 

She also shared a great passion for dancing with her husband, Henry; other couples often cleared the floor to watch as they danced The Peabody.

Isabelle was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend of 64 years, Henry George Harris, Jr.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Maureen Harris and Janine Harris Koch (Mark); her cherished grandchildren, Mark Harris Koch and Janna Koch Cronan (Matthew); her great granddaughters, Sienna Isabelle and Kiera Marie Cronan; and many loving nephews, nieces, and their families. 

Isabelle was also predeceased by her beloved niece and her six dear siblings.  She was the darling baby sister of the late Sister Mary Miranda (Rose Plachta), Veronica “Vera” DeAsio (Dominick), Francs “Fran” Cantelmi (Francis/ “Dick”), Louis Plachta (Julia), Walter Plachta (Anna), and Adolph Plachta.

Friends and relatives may pay their respects at Bayonne Memorial Home, Inc. on Tuesday, December 27, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. A funeral Mass will be held at the Parish of St. John Paul at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 11:30 p.m. followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
