James T. Burke

James T. Burke passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at his Bayonne residence . He was born in Jersey City to the late Mary (nee: Cavanaugh) and James Burke and was a Bayonne resident for 54 years.

James was a business agent for the Amalgamated Transit Union 821 Local before retiring and was employed as a N. J. Transit bus driver prior to that.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Star of the Sea Council #371, Bayonne.

James is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara (nee: Wisely) Burke; his loving sons, James Thomas Burke, Jr., and his wife, Kelly, and Kevin Charles Burke and his fiance Faith; and his cherished grandchildren , James , Matthew, Erin, Shannon, and Kat Burke. He was predeceased by his siblings, Judith Verhyne and Francis and Donald Burke.

A funeral Mass will take place at St. Henry’s Church, Bayonne on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at 10:45 a.m. followed by a private cremation. Inurnment of his cremated remains will take place at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum at a later date.
