Mary Spuma

Mary P. Spuma (nee: Byrne) passed away peacefully on Friday, August 21, 2020, at CarePoint Health at Bayonne Medical Center.  She was born in Hoboken to the late Beatrice (nee: Costello) and William Byrne and was a long-time Bayonne resident.  She was a cashier and manager for Shop Rite for 25 years, prior to retirement.
Mrs. Spuma was a devoted parishioner of Blessed Miriam Teresa Parish, attending Mass daily.  She was a member of its Rosary Society and a devoted contributor to the St. Andrew’s Food Pantry.  She was also a member of the Young at Heart Club and the Andrean Seniors.   She enjoyed Irish music and sitting at First Street Park watching the boats pass after Sunday Mass.  Most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mrs. Spuma was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Marybeth Reynolds.  She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Jordan Spuma; her beloved children, Gail Gareffa (Alfred), Maureen Fontanarosa (Robert), Patricia Andreczski (Joseph), William Spuma (Maria) and Jordan Spuma (Robyn); her grandchildren, Bryanna, Billy, Maureen, Sharon, Jennifer, Patrice, Michael, Justin, Carson and Ivy; her cherished great grandchildren, Jack, Sammi, Logan, Dylan, Devin, Edison, Iris, Mason and Madison; and her dear sister-in-law, Edna Byrne.  She was also predeceased by her dear brother, Augustine Byrne.
The funeral will be conducted by Bayonne Memorial Home, Inc. on Wednesday, August 26, 2020.  A funeral Mass will be held at Blessed Miriam Teresa Parish at St. Andrew the Apostle Church at 10:30 a.m. followed by entombment at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum.  Visitation will take place at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in her memory.  Condolences may be received at bayonnememorialhome.com.
