MaryAnne Rita Murphy

MaryAnne Rita Murphy (nee: Madonia) passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 28, 2023 in her Bayonne residence at age 94 surrounded by her loving children.  She was born in Brooklyn to the late Lena (nee: Campisi) and Salvatore Madonia and was a long-time Bayonne resident. She was an avid gardener and will be remembered above all for how gracious she was to everyone, adult and child, in the neighborhood where she resided for over 70 years.

Mrs. Murphy was predeceased by her beloved husband, Edward J. Murphy.  She is survived by her loving children, Maryanne Parks, Edward “Cliff” Murphy, and his wife, Kim, Eileen Ettinger, and her husband, Stephen, Catherine Johnson, and her husband, Gregory, and Michael Murphy, and his wife, Anne; her cherished grandchildren, Michael Parks, Christal, Cheryl and Charlotte Murphy, Kevin and Megan Ettinger and Ryan and Brandon Murphy; her adoring great grandchildren, Piper, Aidan, Declan, Madeline and Jack; and her sister, Annette Kennedy.  She was also predeceased by her dear siblings, Salvatore, Catherine and Elaine Madonia.

The funeral will be conducted by Bayonne Memorial Home, Inc. on Friday, June 2, 2023. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment at Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 1, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
