Nathan Newman Obituary

Nathan R. Newman passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 26, 2025 at Bayonne Medical Center.  He was 86 years old.  He is survived by his beloved wife Barbara; his loving daughter Robin Newman and her husband, Michael Wittenberg; his cherished grandchildren Lauren Wittenberg and her husband, TJ Nichols, and Lyndsay Wittenberg; and his adoring great grandson Aaron Nichols.  He is also survived by his younger brother, Marvin Newman.

Nathan was born on May 9, 1939, at Margaret Hague Hospital in Jersey City to Rose Revenson and Harry Newman.  Shortly thereafter, he moved with his parents and two brothers to Brooklyn where he spent his early childhood.  During his teenage years, Nathan and his family moved to Bayonne, where he spent the remainder of his life.  He graduated from Bayonne High School and began working various jobs.  Shortly thereafter, he met the love of his life, Barbara, who he married in 1963.  They made a home together in Bayonne.

After marrying Barbara, Nathan began his career as a salesman, one in which he thrived and excelled.  He first started as a salesman with the Fuller Brush Company, ringing doorbells of prospective customers and making sales pitches that few could decline.  After sharpening his sales skills, he took a sales position with the State Chemical Manufacturing Company selling industrial chemicals to public and private institutions.  It was at this job that Nathan blossomed as a sales representative—becoming the number one salesperson in the national company for many years over his four-decade tenure, an achievement of which he and his family was very proud.

Nathan loved sports and physical exercise.  He was an avid Yankees fan and enjoyed watching the games.  As a young man, among other sports, he played paddleball competitively.

Nathan was a warm and kind-hearted soul.  He was very funny, and silly at times, traits that friends and family alike enjoyed.  His love for his family was unconditional and unmeasurable.  He was devoted to his wife Barbara.  He adored his only daughter Robin, and his granddaughters Lauren and Lyndsay.  He loved his family deeply.

Nathan was always positive in his thoughts and will be remembered with love by all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
