Thomas Michael Walsh Sr. (aka Tom or Tommy) was a caring husband, steadfast father, loyal brother and friend. Tom passed away after a short illness on August 16, 2023.
Tom was born to Dolores (McCarthy) and John Walsh joining five siblings at the time. He attended local grade schools. After graduating from high school, he sought employment at Bayonne Hospital. Many have commented on his ability to readily assist or help wherever needed.
After 16 years with the hospital, Tom accepted a position with the Department of Public Works, (DPW), City of Bayonne. Through his 27 years of dedication, he earned the role of supervisor. Indeed, he was very proud of this accomplishment. Tom was a man of integrity and always sought to do the right thing. He enjoyed working for the city but he especially enjoyed his co-workers at the DPW, a number whom he mentored through the years.
Tom was an avid Yankee, Giants and Miami Dolphins fan. His New York teams were high on his list. He always liked the colors of the Miami Dolphins and wore his fan jacket proudly. Tom also enjoyed fishing. You name it; he tackled it. In his recent days, he talked about retirement and all he wanted to do was “go fishing.” He also enjoyed family night at home. He was always ready for a card game or a challenging game of scrabble.
Tom was predeceased by his parents and his two brothers, Timmy and Mickey. Tom is survived by his wife, Roseann (Quigley) of 35 years and their two sons, Thomas Michael Walsh, Jr. (aka Tommy) and his wife, Courtney, and his son, James John better known to all as Jimmy. Tom is also survived by his sister, Judy Lewandowski and her husband Nush; Kathy McCabe and her husband Pat; Jack Walsh and his wife, Georgiana and Pat Walsh and his wife, Donna. In addition, Tom is also survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law; Peg Quigley and her partner, Kathi Manning; Nancy Dougherty and her husband, Bob; Irene Hurley and her husband, Leo; Mary Quigley; Jim Quigley and his wife, Kelly; Leo Quigley; Jack Quigley and his wife, Maureen.
