Vera Anani Obituary

Vera Lucia Anani, age 71, passed away peacefully on July 8th, 2025 at 12:15am at Peace Saint Ann’s Nursing Home surrounded by her children. The family was comforted at the sight of the biggest smile on her face, knowing she was welcomed into heaven by her Creator and was reconnected with her many family members who preceded her. Her smile did not fade, nor did the family’s peace in knowing she is no longer suffering from cancer and now has a renewed body in the kingdom of heaven.

Vera Lucia Ramos Da Silva was born in Casa Amarela, Recife in the state of Pernambuco in Brazil on July 27th, 1953. She was the youngest of a family of six: Samuel (deceased), Maria (deceased), Berenice, Rubenita (deceased), and Carmen Lucia (deceased). Ever since she was young, her faith was firm, trusting in the Lord. She and her sisters moved to Sao Paulo and she started working different jobs like telephone operator and accountant. She was always generous and served others with all her heart. She was always a woman of valor, led by the wisdom and grace of the Lord through every season of life. After marrying her husband, Ibrahim Anani (deceased), she helped care for his boys Labib and Nabil like her own. When they moved to the United States, she had her daughters Soraya and Sonya, and led them in the knowledge of the Lord and covered them in prayers every moment she could. She worked in Bayonne, NJ as a hairdresser and manicurist for several years. She faithfully served the church with her many skills and talents attending First Assembly of God in Bayonne (now Impact Ministries) and later Faith Fellowship in Sayreville, NJ. She was an event planner, costume designer, usher, and prayer warrior blessing the socks off of everyone she could.

When she no longer was able to attend church due to her treatment and symptoms, she never stopped her biblical studies, attending online services in Brazil as well as at Tikvat Israel Messianic Synagogue in Richmond, VA where her daughter, Sonya, and son-in-law, Rabbi David Wein, serve faithfully. She was always learning something new, always inquisitive about the things of the Lord, and always praying faithfully. She even learned how to play guitar on her own and would practice her favorite worship hymns on it. She was the best chef, especially with her loving mother’s touch. She blessed everyone she could with her 5-star meals, not just on their birthday or a holiday, but every day she had the ability to stand up in the kitchen. She loved the Lord with all her heart and exemplified a life of faith, love, grace, and honor. She has impacted so many and will always be remembered in love.

Vera is survived by her children, Labib, Nabil (Jeannette), Soraya (David L.), Sonya (David W.), her grandchildren, Nabil Jr., Jennifer (Hayden), Christian, Aviel, and great granddaughter, Charlotte. She is also survived by her sister Berenice (Juaquim), and her best friend, Diane Turetsky.
