Henry J. Millan, 89, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2015 in the presence of his loving family. Born in Bayonne, he lived and raised his family there before relocating to Hunterdon County with his wife, Lillian.
A graduate of Mt. Carmel and Bayonne High School, Mr. Millan was the former owner and operator of Admiral Aluminum Products, Bayonne, and also was an Electrical Inspector for Westinghouse Elevator, Jersey City.
Mr. Millan leaves behind his beloved wife of 67 years, Lillian Millan (nee: Wilk); his loving children, Henry A. Millan, his wife Mauri, Thomas Millan, his wife Yudi, the late Elizabeth Millan (Betty), Christine Szczepanski, her husband Victor, Anthony Millan, his wife Missy, Anna Raslowsky, her husband Robert, Paul Millan, his wife Debbie, and Sharon McGovern, her husband John; his adoring grandchildren, Christopher, Michelle, Michael, Jillian, Maggie Mae, Anthony John (AJ), Andrew, Julia, Mona, Michael, Allison, Jill and Johnny and his cherished great grandchildren, Mila Marie, Thomas, Lucy, Owen, Lukesh Henry, and his dear siblings, Helen Kobryn, Louis and Chester Milan and many very special nieces and nephews. His children are very blessed to have had the most special father, he loved them all and he will be greatly missed, he will be cherished.
Mr. Millan proudly served the nation as a member of the United States Navy, during World War II, in the Pacific and North Africa, aboard the USS Sangamon and the USS Clermont.
Mr. Millan was an avid bowler and musician, who loved to sing and play the guitar for his family and also for his friends at the American Legion Post 19 with his best pal, his dog, Ignatz. He was involved with Veteran causes for most of his life, serving as the chairman of the reunion committee for his ship, the USS Sangamon and the CVE Escort Carrier Organization. He was also a member of the Bayonne Knights of Columbus. Visitation will be held on Wednesday March 25, 2015 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bayonne Memorial Home. The funeral will be conducted on Thursday, March 26, 2015. A funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington
