Joan E. (Murray) Brown

Joan Elizabeth Brown (nee: Murray), 86, passed away gracefully at her home surrounded by her family on Saturday, November 12, 2016. Born in Bayonne, she was a lifelong resident. A homemaker, she was kind, caring and compassionate.She also worked many years for Bell Telephone in New York City.

Mrs. Brown was a devout member of St. Andrew’s Parish, where she attended Mass daily. She was a proud supporter of the Bayonne Fire Department.

Mrs. Brown dedicated her life to her family and loved the holidays, especially St. Patrick’s Day. She loved the shamrock which represents faith, hope and love, and these were evident in her daily endeavors and her will to help others. She will be missed by all who have been lucky to have known and loved her. She had a generous spirit and a kind heart. She will be missed by so many.

Mrs. Brown was predeceased by her beloved husband, Fire Captain John H. Brown; and her siblings Margaret Kane, Marie Devlin, Agnes Dougherty, and Joseph, James and John Murray.

She was a loving mother to Patti Brown, Kathleen Suhovic (the late Joseph), Susan Smith (Leo), Nancy Bodayle (Billy), Janet Lojewski (Michael), John M. (Doreen), Timothy (Maritza) and David Brown (Donna). She was adored by her 22 grandchildren and her eight great grandchildren. She is also survived by her dear sister, Dolores Cushing and many nieces, nephews and special friends, including her early morning church friends.

The funeral will be conducted from the Bayonne Memorial Home, Inc. on Thursday, November 17, 2016, with a funeral Mass to be held at Blessed Miriam Teresa Parish at St. Andrew the Apostle Church at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow at St. Catharine Mausoleum, Sea Girt, NJ. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2016, from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m.
